What the Prophet
by Anwar Abdelsalam
USA

Is beyond the value of everything in society
And beyond the soul that acts and speaks so freely,
Aspects of his(S) personality
Exemplify everything anyone could want to be
Kindness, mercy, generosity,

The Messenger(S) and the Message do drive me
To do what is honorable, decent, and act truthfully,
How did the Prophet(S) act with those that spoke abusively
With no right, and them knowing his(S) character to be so wonderful, honorable, refined, and raised to heights so perfectly,
What to do in such a case when ignorance causes one to be an enemy so bitter and filled with envy,

Look no further than the Prophet Muhammad's(S) legacy
When he prayed for guidance and chose mercy for those that stoned him(S) and left him bloody
Or those that had the evil tendency
To continuously dismiss the truth in self-conceited mockery

The Prophet(S) offered kindness to neighbors and amnesty
and forgiveness to former enemies
Winning the hearts and minds of humanity
Knowing that turning foes into friends would only bring civility
One day we will understand that we should turn defamatory statements into a learning opportunity
A chance to teach others what we truly know
What the Prophet means to us will shine in our actions and will certainly one day show
