A Thought To Voice
by Nudrat Siddiqui
USA

niqaabis be stepping up
we're the ones standing proud
you can stare, but I'm just gonna say, Man Wassup?
You can't see my face
you can hear my voice,
you'll come to know me faster at this way and pace
I'm who i am, what's in my looks?
Hear me out, put aside the books
to you we're just women, maids and cooks
I have a mind, A thought to voice
This veil you see, it's my choice
I'm not oppressed
I fought to get this right
you think I'm prisoned and depressed
I love for this deen
Lower your gaze
safegaurd your eyes
I say what I mean
Standing as Mujahideen
My face you don't need to see
My beauty saved
For someone a path paved
A treasure hidden from this world
Like I said, My face you don't need to see
My voice says enough about me
Voicing my thoughts
Don't judge me, connect the dots
I've said enough, get a clue
I bet you never knew.
I'm veiled
Intellectually preveild... Revealed
