The Five Pillars of Islam
by Dalal Alkowni
USA

For everything we do, we must pay the price.
However, there is a simple way to enter paradise.
For Islam has a foundation of five,
Which every Muslim must work hard to strive

These five pillars of Islam keep us straight so not budge,
Shahada, Salah, Saum, Zakah, and Hajj.
Shahada is what we say everyday when we pray,
It must be engraved in our hearts and not just words that we say.

Shahada is facing the Kiblah five times a day,
Bowing to Allah and to him we pray.
We ask him for forgiveness and guidance along the way,
For this is the key to entering paradise one day.

Zakah is giving money to the poor,
Knowing that for all we give, Allah will give us more.
People with money taking care of those without,
This is what Islam is all about.

Ramadan is the month we fast,
From sunrise to sunset until sunset it lasts.
We do not eat we do not drink.
And only good thoughts are what we should drink.

Hajj is done in Makkah once a year,
Millions of Muslims will gather here.
Going around the Ka'bah and standing on Arafat,
Hoping for Allah's forgiveness known as Maghfirah.

These are basics of Islam,
Duties of all Muslims, woman and man.
