The Veils
by Giovanni Herran
USA

In the name of Allah the most beneficent the most merciful

Intellect, baser self arrested
must now change & engage basic perspectives
thoughts navigate states, by way of introspection
the length of your stay, destiny's measure
fabric of time, of priceless texture
the seams mark the spot, the search is the treasure
and movement's begotten, the labor, dialectics
positive negative, union eclectic
Allah's countenance triumph incentive
*
seventy thousand veils and with every breath gifted one
sacred tapestry of shadows vivid earth and sun
dance of divine breath, orbiting flesh, matter, form
polytonal hymn, the universe in unison
beloved psalm of every angel, animal, plant, stone
blessed curtain
and with every breath girted one
sense intuitive, intellectual, inspiration.

"what majesty, in that, that which hides us from your image, is also that which reveals us your image"
