The Gift Of Life
by William Lacewell
USA

We often think that there is nothing more
important than our children and our wife
until at the brink of death we find ourselves
or love ones struggling for each breath of life

We go each day not worrying about the next
and not caring about those we meet on our way
we live life in the fast lane looking for fun
and not worrying about life the next day

As we go through each trial and tribulation
we don't seem to care about what we do or say
our attitude is somewhat apprehensive and
rebellious because we feel let come what may

As we grow older and we say we are wiser
and our bodies become weak and frail
we think more about our final destination
and try to forget our destructive trail

We learn to appreciate the wonders of life
the ability to get up and go our way
we learn that life isn't something that just happened
God gave it a lot of thought before He gave man life that day
