The Soldier's March

Barely a step
outside my door
and I am a
wayfarer
dusty

plotting my course
on a crowded road

en masse
we move along
they are dancing
and I am
caught in the sway
of their mocking

but my feet
find dirt untrodden
and my heart
beats the rhythm
of the soldier's march

La Illaha illah Allah
Muhammad Rasoul Allah
