Once Upon A Time
by Khadija Mohamed
GBR

I once came to a place not far away
Where every sunrise brought a cheerful day
Where people came together big and small
And rush to make prayer with every call

I once saw smiley faces with every tear drop
And I could hear the Adan from the mountain top
all this in a place not far away
i wish i could go there every day

I sat on my bed knowing it was a dream
To bring it to life, i could only deem
I'm back to this life being careful where I step
Knowing my future is decided with every next step

I'm back in a place full of hopes and dreams
Where everything is not as it seems
Where cursing and screaming is everyday talk
And seeing unpleasant faces where ever i walk

I once dreamt a place were dreams come true
And everyone has a lot to do
A place I know I can call home
a place I know I will never be alone

I once felt my heart fill with light
When I joined the prayers deep in the night
A place that's snug, nice and warm
A place I know I'm safe from doom

My soul is shaken with words of fear
I have not prayed and sunrise is near
What excuses do I have that will be accepted?
What if from Jannah I am rejected

To think of the hereafter it feels like a crime
Yet we're not careful with what we do with our time
If I take life serious they'll say I'm not cool
And I better not rush when I hear the prayer call

In my sleeps of peace everyone is grateful
And teach us to God we should be thankful
They always remind me to go and pray
And say Alhamdulilah everyday

In this world of wonder you have never seen
it's a place i know you would love to of been
a place thats sweet, comforting and caring
a place thats calm, soft and sharing

We asked God for help and still turned away
In the hereafter we'll be asked about that day
We say our life is hard yet not know real pain
And when little things touch us we start to complain

in this world we live in, its like a prision
and the hereafter is what we should make our mission
Allah calls to us by night and by day
and we should hear this call and answer it all the way
