Ramadaan
by Younas Syed

The sun barely risen I wake up
Fighting against every resistence
Just so I can worship Your every Existence
The thought of the hereafter flows through my membrane like the twilight zone
On and on it goes where my life ends no one knows
So I gotta stay up on my toes

The sun barely risen I wake up
Fighting against every resistence
Just so I can worship Your every Existence
The thought of the hereafter flows through my membrane like the twilight zone
On and on it goes where my life ends no one knows
So I gotta stay up on my toes
Praying 5 times of day is half
Take part in fast living each day as if it's my last

You see
The fast is more than a ritual
It's something spiritual
Putting aside your normal
Habits
So you can live life blissful

Me
by Nabil Ali
USA

To die before death is to live after life
I wander with canes because I am blind
Only my ears listen because I am deaf
My tongue speaks because I am mute
I tremble at words, but I challenge all fear
I do not fear, fear itself, I fear its Creator
It is in my nature to question and resist
To sin is... Read More

To die before death is to live after life
I wander with canes because I am blind
Only my ears listen because I am deaf
My tongue speaks because I am mute
I tremble at words, but I challenge all fear
I do not fear, fear itself, I fear its Creator
It is in my nature to question and resist
To sin is to obey, to ask for forgiveness is to submit
The depths are too shallow, the zenith too deep
The struggle is what we seek, not what it can reach
What can be, is and when He says, it can be
The outward returns in, the servant becomes free
I choose to confirm, to affirm my worn seat
For the wolf strives to lure a lone sheep...

The Five Pillars of Islam
by Dalal Alkowni
USA

For everything we do, we must pay the price.
However, there is a simple way to enter paradise.
For Islam has a foundation of five,
Which every Muslim must work hard to strive

These five pillars of Islam keep us straight so not budge,
Shahada, Salah, Saum, Zakah, and Hajj.

Shahada is what we say everyday when we pray,
It must be engraved in our hearts and not just words that we say.

Shahada is facing the Kiblah five times a day,
Bowing to Allah and to him we pray.
We ask him for forgiveness and guidance along the way,
For this is the key to entering paradise one day.

Zakah is giving money to the poor,
Knowing that for all we give, Allah will give us more.
People with money taking care of those without,
This is what Islam is all about.

Ramadan is the month we fast,
From sunrise to sunset until sunset it lasts.
We do not eat we do not drink.
And only good thoughts are what we should drink.

Hajj is done in Makkah once a year,
Millions of Muslims will gather here.
Going around the Ka'bah and standing on Arafat,
Hoping for Allah's forgiveness known as Maghfirah.

These are basics of Islam,
Duties of all Muslims, woman and man.

In the name of Allah the most beneficent the most merciful

Intellect, baser self arrested
must now change & engage basic perspectives
thoughts navigate states, by way of introspection
the length of your stay, destiny's measure
fabric of time, of priceless texture
the seams mark the spot, the search is the treasure
and movement's begotten, the labor, dialectics
positive negative, union eclectic
Allah's countenance triumph incentive
*
seventy thousand veils and with every breath gifted one
sacred tapestry of shadows vivid earth and sun
dance of divine breath, orbiting flesh, matter, form
polytonal hymn, the universe in unison
beloved psalm of every angel, animal, plant, stone
blessed curtain
and with every breath girted one
sense intuitive, intellectual, inspiration.

"what majesty, in that, that which hides us from your image, is also that which reveals us your image"

At the shining moon I sit and gaze.
My mind asking me the same question

After patiently waiting and counting down the days,
At the shining moon I sit and gaze.
My mind asking me the same question
…Do my eyes deceive?
I pray not, trying hard to believe.
Believe- that this blissful month is really here,
Wiping away my dunya related problems and fear.
Bringing with it a bag full or blessings, chances and surprises for us all,
As we follow abidingly to Allah's call.
There's no word worthy of describing this sacred month of Ramadhan,
-Only one of the greatest gifts bestowed upon us by Ar-Rahman.
Almost thirty days in which we are and feel most closest to our Lord,
In no other month do our hearts rest so fully assured-
Than how peaceful we feel in the holy month of Ramadhan.
A month in which we strengthen our Imaan.
A month in which Allah has the Shaitaan chained up tight,
Eliminating all excuses for us to not do right.
A month of happiness, repentance, and forgiveness for all believers,
A chance for us to become real achievers.
Do more good deeds than ever before,
Turn our attentions towards the needy and poor.
Fast to feel the way they do,
Keeping in mind, that for them the feeling is there- their whole lives through.
Along with these boundless blessings comes Leyla-tul-Qadr,
The night of power for which I have been practicing sabar.
This month is what could save us all from entering the fire,
Or in Paradise, it may raise us a level higher.
As Ramadhan fly's past I cry to see it end,
It feels as if I am losing a lifelong friend.
Next year, I will try harder and with the most sincere devotion I shall fast,
To be cleansed from the endless sins of my past.
Be it in the name of Allah-most merciful, most kind.
Thank you Allah for sending Ramadhan as mercy onto mankind.
