Softened by his Seerah

Through the reading of his Seerah,
This granite hard, tenderproof heart
Fissured fast, then shattered apart
Unguessed at feelings raced nearer.
Faith as forceful as raw water
Gushed forth from unfathomed depths, deep
In some well and went on to seep
Into the heart's empty quarter.

This impermeable rock soaked
Up his lessons of selflessness
From righteousness constant press,
His noble acts sieged and broached
The close-packed rock which filled with drips
To form the pure source aquifers
That store the life that inspires
And from which I take boosting sips.

How many hours and days could we spend
In listing his virtues, singing his praise?
Where will we begin and where will we end?

If we gathered every neighbor and friend
To describe all his wise and selfless ways,
How many hours and days could we spend?

If we could turn around the downward trend
And live in the light of the Sunnah's rays,
Where will we begin and where will we end?

How many salams would we need to send
To thank him for bearing all those hard days?
How many hours and days could we spend?

How many paeans of praise have been penned
In search of the mot juste, the perfect phrase?
Where will we begin and where will we end?

How often should it be something we tend,
So it doesn't become a passing phase?
How many hours and days could we spend?
Where will we begin and where will we end?

It is his fate
To be the most praised.

It is his fate
To bear the most
Often chosen male name.

It was his fate
To carry revelation's
Heaviest weight.

It was his fate
To embody every noble trait.

It was his fate
To have all past and future sins
Wiped off the slate.

It is his fate
To lead the messengers
And prophets in communal prayers
When they all congregate.

It is his fate
To be frequently mentioned by name,
By endless ranks of angels garrisoned
In a heavenly place.

It is his fate
To kindle the sincerest love
And stoke the basest hate.

It is his fate
To be the one
We try to emulate.
(Have you failed of late?
I've failed of late.)

It is his fate
(Wait, now, wait!)
To be truly great.

YOU TAUGHT US TO BE CLOTHED
EVEN WHEN OTHERS ARE GOING NAKED.
YOU ASKED US TO BE KIND TO OTHERS
EVEN WHEN THEY\'RE NOT KIND TO US.
YOU TAUGHT US TO PRAY
AND SHOWED US GOD\'S WAY.
YOU ARE MUHAMMAD, THE TRUSTWORTHY.

YOU TAUGHT US TO BE MODEST
AND NOT TO DISPLAY OUR ADOURNMENT.
YOU ASKED US TO HELP THE NEEDY
AND NOT TO BE GREEDY.
YOU TAUGHT US THE RIGHT WAY TO FAST
AND SHOWED US THE WRONG AND THE RIGHT.
YOU ARE MUHAMMAD, THE COMPLIANT, OBEDIENT.

YOU TAUGHT US TO BE HUMBLE
AND NOT TO FOMENT TROUBLE.
YOU ASKED US TO EXERCISE PATIENCE
EVEN IN TIMES OF TURBULENCE.
YOU TAUGHT US THE HAJJ RITES
AND HOW TO FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS.
YOU ARE MUHAMMAD, THE SEAL OF THE PROPHETS.

YOU TAUGHT US TO SEEK KNOWLEDGE
EVEN TO THE WORLD\'S EDGE.
YOU ASKED US TO BE JUST
EVEN TO THOSE WHO ARE NOT.
YOU TAUGHT US HOW TO LIVE
AND ALSO HOW TO DIE.
YOU ARE MUHAMMAD, GOD\'S MESSENGER.

The Sandal's Of My Beloved

When your love is attached, to the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Then remains in your eyes, the shape of the Sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

With the wasila of these blessed sandals you will get what you require, indeed Allah gives then the sadaqa of the sandals of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

May from my skin be made my beloved's SallAllahu alaihi wasallam sandals upper, and from my veins be made laces for the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

In the world of love these are what rule! here runs the currency, of the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

May the print of these forever be on my heart, is it my fault that the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam rule my mind?

Those corners of the earth must have been jealous, of those whom where kissing the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

I visualise the sandal's of my beloved SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in my mind, and then i ask in the sadaqa of the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

In much pain, sorrow and calamity these give happiness and sooth broken heart's, this is indeed a beautiful medication. For the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam holds many cures for ailment's.

Prostration to these is not right my mind says: but why should the heart not bow to these?

These have had the blessed sole's of the feet of my beloved SallAllahu alaihi wasallam scented persiperant wash them, indeed you will never find anything purer then these the sandals of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

When i meet a lover, whom is obsessed with these, i will tell him that indeed i have heard about the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

Oh what crazy lovers! they kick the entire world aside, only so they get their hands and eyes on this gift of the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

Even Hazrat Ali respected these, and the *(Heavens) arsh begged to kiss them! what a high status hold these sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

Why should i be scared of the heat of doomsday!
if the shadow of the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam remain's over my head.

Your religion cannot be complete until you are not under these sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

Oh, servant of this blessed sandal, how well you had guarded them, and cleaned them with the lashes of your eyes and polished them with your tears.

My masters SallAllahu alaihi wasallam blessed feet have given these status and nobility, how can i tell you what these sandal's are in reality?

I want to clean them with my lips, and place them upon my head with respect, then i take oath, their shall be no bigger king, or monarchy then me, My soul will be part of this kingdom of the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

May i get to see these blessed sandal's in the name of recieving alm's from the owner SallAllahu alaihi wasallam of these sandal's. i don't want to die without seeing the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

Oh how i wish and desire, that i could have met with with Imam Raza Khan in his town, and all those saints that have praised these, so i could hear from their mouth's the status of the sandals of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

When worn out, from wear and tear, these have had the honour of repair from the hand's of my beloved, Truly, a glance upon these will repair my ever torn destiny, such is the repair of the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

If i meet a person intoxicated with the love of these, i will say come let us get together and get intoxicated in this love of the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

These have had the honour of laying in my beloveds
SallAllahu alaihi wasallam feet! no doubt, these are lucky, and have had a better destiny then mine and all creation.

Ya Allah! make my tongue and mind so; that morning and evening i SING of these, and in the dream at night i kiss the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

If the enemies of this sandal don't like this poem: then i want to see my head on a spear singing the praise of the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

When the grave of mine is dug my friends: please bear in mind: that they must be the shape of the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

When my body is being carried to my grave, my brothers please remember on your tongue, must remain the song of the blessed sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

On my gravestone it should only be written: resting is the lover of the sandal of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

When the angels arrive in my grave and ask me "man rabokah" "man deenokah"{who is your god?} and {what is your religion} i will say i am the lover of the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

When my master SallAllahu alaihi wasallam stands before my eyes in my grave; may on my lips be the hymns of his sandal's.

Oh angels why do you trouble me? and put me to shame by asking me "who stands in front of me"? let me kiss the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

I have deep thoughts, why shouldn't they be? i am the student of imam Ahmed raza {ra}, indeed the imprint of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam sandal's is on my heart.

Oh Allah forever make this belief of mine as iron, and turn this iron into the shape of the sandal's of Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam

Would that i could sit with you
even for a moment just to be in your light
like the rain hitting the dead earth bringing it to life
I long for a drop of yours to quench the thirst of my being
this is the longing of this world in all its glory and might
of all things living and dead, beyond time and story

would that i could gaze at you
even through an instrument provided by the ONE
through the cascade of your beauty- inhaled are the cures of your light
invited are the secrets of your opening, to make all knots undone
this is the longing of this world, in all its glory and might
of all things living and dead, beyong time and story

would that i could be close to you
like the garment that covered you in flight
when it was said "oh you covered one" as you ran to her with fright
I would sheild you from the storms of madmen having no sight
protect you from the imprints left by sleep without comfort

would that i could hear the beat of your heart inside your chest...
this is the longing of this world in all its glory and might
of all things living and dead, beyond time and story

Oh you whose love was love first-Oh beloved
to you I flee away from the loves unloved
away from this poet unmoved whose light is not shown
sitting alone among the multitude
dragging a heart more solid than sandstone

My Beloved Prophet, whose name alone Allah joined with His own,
My heart is your follower, and it begs you to bring it close,
To draw it near, to take it with you to our Beloved Creator,
For you are all that stands between us and Him,
Allowing us to witness Him through you,
A window, a portal to perfection,
You help us witness what we could never witness,
You help us grasp what is beyond all understanding,
So immensely inexplicable,
You are our window, a portal to perfection.
Draped in the qualities of Allah,
He honored only you with two of His Names,
Oh merciful and compassionate prophet,
Mercy is your very soul, and your mercy is our hope,
Your intercession, the foundation of our dream,
And your compassion a river eternally flowing
That we drink from when we send you salutations.
Your breast, Allah expanded alone,
and your heart He made a vast world,
An expansive terrain of perfection we long to imitate,
To tread through and place our every footstep in the print of one of yours,
For with your guidance alone may we hope to please.
You are our window, a portal to perfection.
He made you the likeness of His light, and your light has lit up our world,
As your followers have chanted night after night for fifteen hundred years,
“You are the sun, you are the moon, you are the light, light upon light,
A light from which all lights come forth,
And your light, like that of the moon,
gently falls on our faces, and illuminates our hearts,
Continually guiding us on in your way,
A journey with one destination;
The path to Allah.

Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ir-Raheem

The peace and blessing and mercy of GOD
Could have no target more worthy than he,
The orphan of Mecca, whose feet did trod
This hollow world for sixty years and three.
O honoured is he, the truthful merchant,
Who would sit upon the Mountain of Light
And emmerged from the dark cave with no rant
But Sacred Words for the world to recite.
Praise him, who gently turned the cheek from sin
And showed mercy to the foe who showed none.
Praise him, who guided the wayward man and jinn
And taught that Our LORD and GOD is ONE.

O the Glorious Journey of the Night!
The night GOD's Favour became manifest
When HE called thee to Heaven's Highest Height
And showed thee what no one else could attest.
Thou did surpass the best of every nation
In a night of wonders beyond wonder
When thou did ascend the highest station,
Where all mortal words are rent asunder.
Thou, ascendant to the Majestic Throne,
Did behold the King of Kings without veil!
At the distance of two bows His Face shown;
O Imam of Imams, words cannot avail.

O the blessing of our Prophet's guidance
And the sweetness of the gifts from his flight:
The complete prayer taught to us to enhance
The pious art of gaining inner-sight!
The fruit of the knowledge of prophecy
He delivered for those who do reflect
And through his guidance it is plain to see
The path of error and the path of the correct.
O ray of light against the darkness and rain
I honour and vindicate thy pure name!
May praise for thy nobleness never wane
And may praising lips never tire or lame!

(If this poem is not acceptable in three parts as it is,
I kindly ask that the following version of the last stanza be used instead of the orginal ending.
Thus the poem would conform to the ruling of a 32-line entry)

O the blessing of our Prophet's guidance
And the sweetness of the gifts from his flight:
The complete prayer taught to us to enhance
The pious art of gaining inner-sight!
The fruit of the knowledge of prophecy
He delivered for those who do reflect
And through his guidance it is plain to see
The path of error and the path of the correct!

Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem!

He is the pane of glass,
a window to the soul
In colours radiant,
We, the tinted shadows
In glistening arabesque,
Flowers of light blossoming
From the sacred olive tree.

He is the guiding star
In the constellation of humanity
Although he outshines us all
As the luminous moon outshines
A dull celestial orb
So that the eye is dazzled and awed.

All Heaven loves and adores him,
Aspires to him and his rank
For it is his honour alone
To be joined with the eclipsing sun.
